Instructor Info

Steve Dalton

I have been riding since the age of 7, riding a pedal start moped around the fields of Lincolnshire on the farm where I was brought up.  I served 27 years in the Royal Air Force before qualifying as a DSA registered CBT and DAS Motorcycle Instructor during my last 2 years of service.

I ride a Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 and an Aprilia Pegaso Trail as my two Instructor bikes and my private bikes are a Kawasaki W800 and a Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive.  I haven’t really got an ideal bike as I’ve had so many over the years but probably the Honda ST1300 I had covered most jobs more than adequately.

Phil Rowland

I have been riding off road bikes as a teenager and young adult taking part in 24hr Enduro events and currently ride a BMW GS1200. I served 22 years in the Royal Engineers where I became a Motorcycle & Quadbike rider and also qualified as a Driving Examiner, also having Outdoor Pursuit Instructor qualifications.

My biking has taken me on many tours throughout Europe touring with my wife through France, Germany, Holland, and Luxemburg, Czech Republic (via many wine regions and breweries) and following the Moto GP.  We will be riding Route 66 this summer…..

I enjoy riding and teaching so decided that becoming a Motorcycle Instructor would combine 2 things that I really enjoy.

I’m passionate about motorcycles.  For my it is an escape from monotonous daily life. I love that freedom and independence which I can experience riding a motorbike. Especially when I’m traveling with a tent. Scotland, France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, The Alps, Ireland that some of the tours I have already completed. I’m currently preparing my Honda Transalp 600 and myself for the next tour to Morocco.

I’m also member of North West Blood Bikes Lancashire and Lakes which provide a free, but professional voluntary out of hours transport service to our local NHS hospitals by carrying urgent and emergency blood and anything that can be carried by motorcycle, between hospitals that is urgently required.

I’m currently working for a Sterilization Unit which provide service for local hospitals and clinics.

After working shifts for 31yrs in the chemical industry, I decided on a change of direction to take up motorcycle instructing.

I started riding motorbikes at 19yrs old and I’ve had some great experiences and met some fantastic people just because of biking. Some of the places I’ve visited are Germany, France Holland and Ireland, with plans for more destinations to come.

My passion for motorbikes started at a very early age. Teaching myself the basics on an old yamaha DT 50 at the age of about 11 or 12, riding off road and could not wait to get on the road. When I was 16, I completed my cbt and got a moped progressing on to my full test at 18 and haven’t looked back since. I love being a part of the biking community. Then the opportunity to train as an instructor came up and as my shifts allow me a lot of time off it was perfect for me. Since completing my training I have loved training people and find it very rewarding.
